A detailed program framework blending engineering analysis with business imperatives

Once a data center site is selected, FOCUS can commence the development of a conceptual design and budget against established business and financial goals. This ensures that the highest return is realized on the client’s investment. For a new data center, we can create a encompassing Master Plan based on your business strategy and expected growth plans to effectively allow for the scaling of power, cooling, and space requirements over a projected time-frame. For an operating data center or a portfolio of data centers, FOCUS can create a Master Plan for additional properties, new facilities on existing properties or upgrades to current facilities in order to maintain and improve site operations or efficiency.

Committed to growth; Logix needed a plan that would support its ambitious goals.

Having made a commitment to growing its data center presence in Texas and in Austin in particular, Logix Communications wanted to understand and validate its options with respect to the phased-growth of its Austin data center.  Logix asked FOCUS to help them understand both design options and the financial implications of upgrades that would be required to meet their expectations for growth.  And they wanted all options to be presented in the context of a selection of key business criteria they had identified in advance.

In response to this objective, FOCUS produced a Master Plan, Phased Conceptual Design and budgetary pricing that took into account dozens of potential scenarios integrating business factors such as expected market growth, new customer acquisition rates, expected density requirements for various prospect populations, pricing expectations for various service levels and competitive forces.   We then combined those with a design and engineering analysis of the site to narrow the alternatives down to an actionable set of recommendations presented over logical phases with budgetary pricing applied to each.
